Some facts about West London and its depots

Rusthall Avenue, ChiswickWest London is one of the subdivisions of Greater London which encompasses the following boroughs: Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow and Richmond upon Thames. According to the latest estimates, the gross value added of West London reaches 34.4 billion Pound Sterling, which adds up to 20 percent of the total gross value added of Greater London. One of the main employers in the area is of course the London Heathrow International Airport, which is the largest airport in England both in terms of traffic and sheer size. The businesses that are related to the airport also offer jobs to a large number of people.

West London is a green area that has a high concentration of open green spaces such as Wimbledon Common, St James’s Park, Golders Hill Park and many others. The area is also served by a number of Junk Depots. Brent HRRC is right off Abbey Road and operates exclusively with household waste, including single bulky items. Both the Richmond HRRC and the Ealing HRRC accept both household and commercial waste, but it is necessary for it to be separated in advance, before driving to the depot. The Harrow HRRC is open only to waste clearance companies, while the Hounslow depot charges for disposal of certain amounts and types of rubbish. The South Ruislip depot was the largest one in West London, but unfortunately it had to close down on 31st May 2014. Most junk depots in West London are closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve.
